Cathy Sanders Receives Doris E. Coppage Award from APIC
Birmingham, AL . . . Brookwood Medical Center is pleased to announce that Cathy Sanders, R.N., B.S.N., C.I.C., has received the 2005 Doris E. Coppage Excellence in Infection Control Award from the Birmingham Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC). The award was named for former Brookwood Infection Control Practitioner Doris Coppage, who was widely recognized for her professional expertise, and was also a founding member of APIC.
Established in 2000, the Doris E. Coppage Excellence in Infection Control Award recognizes exceptional professional expertise and involvement in infection control activities. Nominated by her peers, Ms. Sanders’ contributions include her development of a Blood Born Pathogen educational workshop for Alabama tattoo artists, and the development of a local list server for educational information among Infection Control Practitioners.
Ms. Sanders, a resident of Cullman County, has worked at Brookwood Medical Center for four years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Birmingham Southern College.
Ms. Sanders will be further recognized at the Courage of Exceptional Leaders Seminar at the national APIC conference in Baltimore, MD in June of 2005.
