Brookwood Medical Center Names New Chief Operating Officer

Birmingham, AL - Brookwood Medical Center is pleased to announce that Joe Stough has joined the hospital as its new Chief Operating Officer.  He assumed his new post at Brookwood on March 13, 2006.  Joe returns to Birmingham from Rock Hill, South Carolina where he served as COO for another Tenet hospital, Piedmont Medical Center.    Under Joe’s leadership, Piedmont Medical Center received Tenet’s Circle of Excellence Award in 2005.  Joe has been with Tenet since 1998, where he has held operational positions with hospitals in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.  During his 5 years at Brookwood Medical Center, Joe held a variety of leadership roles including VP of Operations and Director of the Orthopedic and Neuroscience product lines.

Stough received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama.  He has an MBA and a MSHA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  

Joe, a native of Jasper, and his wife, LaDonna, a native of Vestavia Hills, have three daughters: Emma Laura (6), Kristen (4), and Katherine (1).
