Because a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, Brookwood offers a variety of resources to help our patients and families cope with the questions and anxiety they may be experiencing.
- Nurse Navigator – An experienced oncology nurse serves as a resource to help our patients navigate through the health care system during the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Additionally, the Nurse Navigator provides support and information to patients and families about cancer care resources, access to services and more. Call 205-877-5298 fo rmore information.
- Support Groups - Numerous support groups are lead by Brookwood’s Oncology Chaplain and address the spiritual and emotional needs of our patients, families and friends. Call 205-877-1720 for more information.
- The Alabama Foundation for Oncology – Based at the Brookwood Cancer Care Center, this non-profit organization is dedicated to serving the local needs of cancer patients and their families. Call 205-877-2224 for more information.
- Cancer Management - Explore our online health resource to learn how to become a proactive patient. Understand your treatment choices. Get the latest news on advances in cancer. If you or a loved one is facing cancer, you’ll want to explore the Cancer Knowledgebase, with separate sections on more than 60 types of the disease.
- CarePages - Create your own virtual support community. Brookwood Medical Center provides its patients with a free, private web page, called a CarePage to help you more easily communicate with family and friends and to receive messages of support.
