The Brookwood Sleep Disorders Center opened in 1990 to meet the increasing demands for the diagnosis and management of sleep-related disorders. The Center operates under the medical direction of a physician who is board certified in Sleep Medicine. Eight spacious, converted hotel rooms offer private bathrooms and provide a comfortable environment for patients to have a sleep study performed. Each room offers advanced technological digital polysomnography with continuous audio and video monitoring.

Sleep problems that can be diagnosed at the Center include:
- Sleep Apnea
- Insomnia
- Narcolepsy
- Nocturnal Myoclonus (Restless Legs Syndrome)
- Symptoms that may indicate the need for a diagnostic sleep study include:
- Awakening from sleep short of breath.
- Snoring loudly enough that others complain.
- Falling asleep during the day, while driving, when laughing or crying.
- Having trouble at work or school because of sleepiness.
- Feeling paralyzed when waking or falling asleep.
- Feeling afraid to fall asleep; having nightmares.
- Noticing parts of the body jerking.
- Having morning jaw pain.
- Waking frequently during the night.
