  1. What is the main number for the Pastoral Care Department?

    The Pastoral Care number is 205-877-1936

  2. Who should I call to find out if a patient is in the hospital? 

    You can call Patient Information at 877-1940

  3. When are the chaplains available? 

    Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
      You can call the hospital operator at 205-877-1000 and ask that a chaplain be called.   

     
     
  4. What are the visitation hours for the hospital?

    Generally, visiting hours are 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, but may vary depending on the patient's unit.  It is recommended to check with the nurse supervisor in the specific unit you wish to visit to be certain of their visiting hours.

  5. Why does the hospital have chaplains?

    Chaplains act as spiritual counselors to help our patients, their families, and our staff members through periods of crisis.  We can reaffirm spiritual beliefs and  maintain or establish relationships with a church or house of worship. Our chaplains 
    make daily rounds and are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

  6. What sacramental services does the Pastoral Care staff provide? 

    Our staff can administer sacramental services for the following events:  Baby Blessings, Baptisms, Communion, Weddings, or Funerals
