Ben’s Bells honors Tellez-Hopkins for founding Darla’s Duds

Nurse JenetteTUCSON (July 30, 2019) – Carondelet nurse Jeanette Tellez-Hopkins was honored by Ben’s Bells on July 29 for her work creating Darla’s Duds, a collection of donated clothes benefiting local families in need.

Tellez-Hopkins received the award at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital, where she is dialysis manager. Darla’s Duds is located in the hospital, and named in remembrance of a St. Mary’s nurse who supported creation of this project.

Darla Ordway was a nurse manager of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital who lost her life in an accident earlier this year. Fellow nurses honored her memory by naming the donated clothes supply Darla’s Duds.

“Darla was a friend to everyone she met. She wanted to be the first to donate some of her clothing. As it turned out, all of her clothing as well as some of her family’s was donated following her accident,” explained Tellez-Hopkins. “We feel her gift of generosity fills the room with warmth and will hopefully better serve someone in need.”
